The Google Nexus 4 by LG has been officially launched, complete with the latest version of Android.

Coming with Android 4.2, which will be also known as Jelly Bean, the handset comes with some pretty top-end specs but with an impressively bargain-basement price â€" matching the low cost of the Google Nexus 7.

LG has nabbed the rights to be the newest kid on the Nexus block, and has thrown in some high level specs to power the Nexus 4 â€" starting with the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5GHz processor, with an Adreno 320 GPU to shove the 1280x768 pixels along.

This gives it a ppi of 320, and makes it high-res enough to compete with the iPhone 5 thanks to the HD capacity.

In terms of the camera, which has been given a boost thanks to the updated software, will be coming in at 8MP on the rear and 1.3MP for the front-facing option.

Wireless charging will be embedded from the outset, using the Qi standard, but you'll need to buy a separate charging pad to make full use of the capability.

And last but by no means least: the Google Nexus 4 is coming in at the low price of £239 (US$299) for the 8GB version and £279 (US$349) for the 16GB option â€" which is over £200 cheaper than the equivalent iPhone 5.

Stateside, the 16GB version will be available through T-Mobile for US$199 on a two-year contract.

There's no microSD expansion, but given the Google Nexus 4 release date is only on 13 November, we're sure that will help those wondering whether this should be on their Christmas list.
